Pemuteran Area
Pemuteran is located in the western-most region of Bali, right on the edge of Barat National Park. If you stay long enough you might be lucky and spot the rare Bali Starling, a blue and white bird that was on the verge of extinction not long ago but now seems to be on its way back. Approximately 50 are still living in the wild, though newly hatched Bali Starling, raised in incubators, are released every month. You also may catch a glimpse of black monkeys, iguanas, and harmless green snakes.
Menjangan Island to the north is one of Bali premiere scuba and snorkeling spots; the coral here is relatively untouched. You can also ski, parasail, or go out fishing at night with one of the locals on a traditional sailboat. There is also a renowned hot spring here close to the village temple. Relax your tired bones and experience the healing waters which are said to be sacred.
