Sanur Area
Sanur is just east and north of the Airport. In the far north of Sanur, near Jl. Hang Tuah, you can find the Museum Le Mayeur, the home of a Belgian artist who lived in Bali in the 1930's. Also nearby is the Eka Bawana Center, where you can take a class in salsa dancing or yoga.
The beach extends three kilometers down from the Grand Bali Beach, which was the first major international hotel constructed in Bali. The heart of Sanur is Jl. Danau Tamblingan, where there are numerous lovely garden-filled hotels and excellent restaurants.
There is a festive night market off this stretch of road where you can try traditional suckling pig (babi guling). If that isn't to your taste, you can sample the excellent pasta at Mama Lucia's, Chinese at Telaga Naga, sushi at Ryoshi, or Mediterranean-Indonesian cuisine at Batan Waru or people-watching at Café Batujimbar.
